Residence Inn by Marriott Newport News Airport

This hotel is newly renovated. The rooms are nice. The facility is clean. The breakfast is good. But what sets it apart is the staff. They are so very friendly. Each and every one of them greets the guests with a sunny "good morning" like you would find at a five star hotel. They also get to know you a little bit over the course of your stay. This hotel is a good value. The only downsides were that the in-room dishwasher didn't work very well and the location is pretty dreary and isolated. But I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Plenty parking, friendly and professional staffalways willing to help, Mini food n snack bar, breakfasts, clean rooms, comfy beds n pillows, pool workout room, and location nice. Highly recommend if your in the area.

Love, love love Residence Inn! Great room for an extended stay and well equipped. Full size refrigerator, 2 burners, coffee maker and even dishes. I liked the fact it had the bedroom(with 2 queens) seperate from the living area. Had no problems checking in or at. I recommend this hotel and I plan on returning soon!

I’ve stayed at most of the hotels in Newport News and Hampton and this is the best. Clean rooms, good breakfast, and friendly service. Special shout out to Shante and Odyssey at the reception desk for always being friendly and professional.

This is a great property in the Residence Inn line. Good location with plenty of stores and restaurants nearby. Close to Ft Eustis, Langley, Williamsburg etc. Staff are all very friendly. Area is in good shape as well.

Back away from main road in a quiet residential area but close to many restaurants and shops. Very close to the airport. Hotel is kept nice and clean. Large lounge area upon entry, where good breakfast and some weekday social drinks and food are offered. Facilities included small but functional GYM that has few cardio machines, one multi functional cable machine for weight training, and rack of thumbells. Decent size indoor pool and laundry room, all in an area left of the building. Rooms typical Residents Inn with kitchen with a large refrigerator, table and two chairs, good functional living room with double sofabed, large desk work area, a fireplace separated by a room, 2 outlets w/ 2 USB-A ports by desk area and sofa area. Door to bathroom from the living area that is spacious then another door to shower and a toilet, another door to the sleeping room. (This was a king 1 bedroom unit). This was a good layout as we were using both room and the sofabed, while using the bathroom, we didn't bother each other. The room had plenty of drawer spaces, and a large closet. Breakfast was very good with different option eggs and meat each day. waffles, hot oatmeal, yogurt bar had several dry fruits, nuts, sweets. Then typical breads choices, juices, and good coffee. although bit surprised the coffee was not available in the evening. Overall, it was a good stay and good value. There was an additional parking fee of $5. One thing of note, coming off Jefferson Ave to Freedom way, stay right to Hornsby Road until you see sign for Residence inn by St. Johns road. My GPS told me to go to Freedom Way, and its very tricky to go straight into Freedom Way.

A comfortable stay in a great location close to restaurants and shopping. Near a low volume airport; didn't hear much loud planes. Room furniture seemed very new including the beds and fold-out couch. The double queen suite had a typical Residence Inn layout and was spacious enough with a standard kitchen. The fridge was nicely sized with a freezer with an ice machine which was convenient. The amenities were ok. Breakfast was standard with generally sausage, eggs, quiche, cereal, juice, bagels, hot/cold coffee. Weekdays had more options than weekends (oatmeal, toppings, hardboiled eggs). Swimming pool was nice but the floor was rough (scraped my knee a few times) and the water was hazy all the time which was odd. Staff was overall extremely nice. At the time of our stay there was a lot of construction next door, so wasn't pleasant to see. This was a minor issue for us. Being located in a somewhat isolated/ cul de sac like area added a sense of additional security although the area generally seemed safe. I would stay there again.
